News: JAMB candidates protest in Kano

HUNDREDS of Candidates that enrolled for this year Joint Admission and Matriculation Board JAMB computer based test on Wednesday took to the streets, barricading the popular Audu Bako road over technical failure, preventing them from sitting for the examination.

For more than 3 hours, the frustrated candidates held traffic hostage preventing motorists passage and wasted productive hours charting solidarity songs in demonstration of displeasure on the conduct of the Computer Based Test at the centre.

One of the candidate Isiyaku Aminu told The Guardian that the candidates ran out of patience at about 3pm when the first batch of the CBT slated to commence at about 6.30am failed to start.

Isiyaku said " We are seriously frustrated and angry. Can you imagine that the first batch were supposed to start by 6.30am and end by 10 when a second batch was expected to start. But this people did not start and nobody is saying anything."

Another candidate Binta Abubakar who was physically depressed over the development lamented that " JAMB was not being fair to us," noting that the situation was simply a failure.

She queried the credibility of the whole process of the exam insisting JAMB must allow them to write the exams in a hitch free atmosphere.

Zonal coordinator, in charge of Kano, Hajia Karimatu Aminu Abubakar in a telephone conversation confirmed the development and said the failure was due to technical hitches that was beyond JAMB expectations.

The coordinator in Kano however assured the candidates that arrangement has been concluded to reschedule the examinations.

She noted that " those that missed the CBT today will write theirs tomorrow. We have told the second batch that are supposed to write tomorrow that their examines has been shifted. They will now write the last batch".
