Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Kayode Aderanti
The Lagos State Police Command has assured residents of the state that it is ready to provide adequate security before, during and after the general elections.
A statement on Sunday said the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Kayode Aderanti, gave the assurance during the State Security Council meeting.
The meeting, which held at the Lagos House, Ikeja, was said to have been presided over by the state Governor, Babatunde Fashola.
Aderanti said, “The police and other security agencies are ready to ensure security of the state. Lagos is secured and all the minor irritations should not distract people. Residents should go about their daily business activities.”
The police boss said the command and other security agencies were bringing in new strategies that would enhance smooth operations, adding that all security agencies would work as a team to ensure that the forthcoming elections were conducted in an atmosphere of peace.
“We are all on the same page; we have decided that come March 28 and April 11, 2015, the people of Lagos State are going to have a very credible experience in the general elections, they should just go out and cast their votes.
“Lagosians should know that we have a solid security architecture in place in the state that is being supported by His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, and in collaboration with the other security agencies, we are more than determined that the people of Lagos are safe-safe for commerce and safe for living,” he added.
The commissioner was accompanied at the briefing by other members of the State Security Council including Commander, NNS Beecroft, Olokun Apapa, Navy Commodore, Teikum Ikoli; Commander, Airforce base Ikeja, Air Commodore, Lere Osanyintolu; Chief of Army Staff 9, Mechanized Brigade, Maj.-Gen U. T. Opuene; Director, State Security Service, Mr. Ben Olayi, and Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Maj Tunde Panox (retd).
