News: Nigerians still believe in probity —Fashola

Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola

The Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, has said a large number of Nigerians still believed in probity and the concept of selfless leadership.

The governor explained that it was in a bid to restore the hope of Nigerians that the All Progresives Congress was formed.

He added that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, which he described as a giant, would soon fall.

Fashola stated this in his speech at the First Quarter Progressive Governance session on Monday in the Imo State Government House, Owerri.

He said the emergence of Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, as the presidential candidate of the party and the attendant excitement, had shown that the people wanted change.

He said, “Nigerians still believe in the virtues of probity, selfless leadership and commitment to the greater good in spite of the 16 years of failed PDP government and leadership that they have been unfortunately saddled with.

“Many Nigerians have expressed understandable frustration that PDP could not be defeated because there was no formidable opposition.

“Our leaders have sacrificed their smaller parties and leadership roles to deliver the first ever political merger in the history of Nigeria.

“Nigerian electorate must elect the APC into government if we must experience change and save our country.”

The governor urged Nigerians to rise up like the biblical David and “bring this plundering goliath down.”

He added that the APC was ready to regenerate the country and overcome the challenges the country had been facing.
