News: Lagos police ready for peaceful elections, says CP

The Lagos State Police Command has assured residents of the state that it is ready to provide adequate security before, during and after the general elections.

A statement on Sunday said the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Kayode Aderanti, gave the assurance during the State Security Council meeting.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has asked security agencies in the country to provide adequate protection for members of the National Youth Service Corps deployed to assist officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct the general elections.

Abubakar gave the charge when the NYSC Director-General, Brig-Gen. Johnson Olawumi, paid a pre-election advocacy visit to his palace.

News: Fresh nationwide strike looms in varsities

Workers in Nigerian universities under the auspices of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities has threatened to embark on a nationwide strike over what they described an ‘obnoxious circular’ by the National Universities Commission.

The union therefore gave the Federal Government till Wednesday April 28, 2015, apparently one month within which it should address the issues or face industrial action in all the federal and state universities across the country.

IT is only an insincere person that will say the Goodluck Jonathan government has failed. It is global knowledge that the administration has rebuilt the institutions on which a modern and prosperous Nigeria can thrive. If Nigerians think the president could have done better and want change, the question is: must it be change for change’s sake? If we want change, what are we changing for? My fear is that we cannot change for Buhari because his candidacy as a change agent is flawed on grounds of age, company, character, convictions and style. Age:
